LG released its Optimus 4X HD a little more than a month ago with a high definition display for its users. Unlike other devices, developers have taken a little more time to achieve root access for Optimus 4X HD. But now users don’t need to wait anymore, as there is a method to achieve root and install a custom recovery as well. So no users can install custom ROMs and tweak as much as they would like after rooting their smartphone.
This has been a combined effort, not actually combined; root tutorial was posted by an XDA Senior Member alexp999 whereas tutorial for installing a custom recovery was posted by XDA Senior Member Dexter_nib. So basically you have to check out two methods in order to root and install a custom recovery on your smartphone. Though the root method is quite tiresome but it is pretty easy. Here’s an overview of the method for those who want to root their Optimus 4X HD and make sure this is for all those people who are using Windows. Users are required to enable the USB Debugging first and then install from unknown sources and then install IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk to their smartphone. After installing, reboot your smartphone and connect it to your PC and run the run script. After doing so, install the SuperSU and remove the IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk from your device and here you have the rooted smartphone. After that installing a custom recovery is much simpler where users are required to install a simple .apk file to their device and that’ll be it. So check out this thread for rooting your smartphone from alexp999 and this thread for installing a recovery from Dexter_nib.
