Hackers from XDA-Developers found an exploit in At&t HTC One X allowing them to have root access on the device. It is the same model of HTC One X that prevented HTC from unlocking the bootloader of the device due to some restrictions, as claimed by HTC itself. This claim by HTC in no way was going to prevent hackers from messing around with the device, and here they are. The method developed by Xda-Developers is fairly simple and doesn’t require any technical knowledge. It is just the matter of one simple click and your HTC One X will be rooted. This method will work on any HTC One X (At&T, Rogers, etc.).
Below are the steps you need to follow in order to successfully root your HTC One X.
Download and install the HTC mobile phone drivers. [Windows]
Download the root.zip file.
Extract root.zip into a directory on your computer.
Plug your HTC One X into your computer via USB. If you’re using a Desktop PC, it is recommended to plug in the USB at the back of the PC.
Enable USB Debugging on your HTC One X by going to Settings >> Developer Options >>USB debugging and check USB Debugging Option.
Now run the script file that you downloaded in the first step by double clicking root.bat/root-linux.sh/root-mac.sh
Your device will reboot a number of times and then you will have full a root access on your device. Congratulations!
