HTC Unveils One with High-End Specs

Two days ago, HTC announced its next flagship smartphone named as HTC One, which will hit the shelves in March. The new HTC One could be called the successor of its One series that was released last year though HTC didn’t talk much about it and announced it as a whole new smartphone from the company with no inspirations taken from HTC One X, at least not in the case of its name. Talking about the phone, the smartphone is an amazing and stylish good looking phone that is made of aluminum and has a 4.7-inch HD display with 1080p resolution and a pixel density of 468, which is like the sharpest display that one has never ever witnessed. The smartphone will sport a 1.7-GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and will be available in either 32 GB or 64GB internal storage. Having said that, it’s out of the world display is not the only thing that sets apart the HTC One from its rivals.

To start with, HTC One will have an HTC Boom Sound that means that the smartphone will have two dual front-facing speakers. HTC also made some noticing changes to its UltraPixels Camera that will now capture even better images than it used to in low light situations. The Taiwanese company also added that they have added the HTC Zoe feature that will capture a flurry of pictures and then it will combine together to create a three second snippet that is pretty similar to GIF files. HTC has also added an infrared sensor in its power button that can be used as a remote controller for TV, if needed. Obviously the phone will run on the Android Jelly Bean. This high-end smartphone will come in black or silver colors and will hit the shelves in late March.

Sony Announces PlayStation 4 and Unveils Dual Shock 4 Controllers

Six years ago, Sony’s PlayStation 3 console hit the market and did fairly good job but from the past six months or so the console was generally moving towards the decline mainly because of the reason that its rival Xbox 360 was doing better in the market ad Sony seriously needed to do something about that. Sony’s PlayStation 4 console was in the rumors from quite some time and after all those months of speculation; Sony finally announced the PlayStation 3 successor this week.

Sony announced the PlayStation 4 console last night in a press conference or a 2 hour long presentation where the electronic giants relied on the PS 4 software and controller instead of the hardware which was pretty surprising at first. But later realized that its not a smartphone or tablet whose looks matter most and since people are going to buy it anyway and play games on their TV, one really doesn’t have to see it to want it. So let’s just move on with what was announced at that press conference.

As said earlier, Sony did announce the PS4 but the majority of the time they were speaking about the software and the promises from the developers and the glimpse of the new DualShock 4 controller that will debut with the PS4. However, Sony did announce the specs of PS4 and added that system would sport an 8 core x86-64 AMD processor with 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD based Radeon graphics engine and to support all then there is a huge 8GB of RAM.

As far as the new DualShock 4 controller is concerned, the new controller received several improvements like playing and charging at the same time, which means you don’t have to delay your game in order to charge it. Another major improvement is the addition of touchpad on the front of the controller, six axis sensor, built-in speakers, headphone jack and a bar with light that will interact with the PS4 eye camera. Start/select button is replaced by options and a share button that will allow sharing the game play on social networking websites like Facebook. The new PS4 is likely to be released later this year in November near the Holiday season.

Apple iPhone 5 iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Confirmed, Expected Release on Super Bowl Sunday

The Apple iOS 6 Jailbreak ride didn’t turn out to be a smoother one like the previous iOS Jailbreak releases. The reason behind that was that the Apple newest operating system apparently didn’t have any weak spots to make the use of it however the talented developers still managed to find it. Though it took some, but it was worth waiting to finally have the jailbreak of iOS 6.1. Though the Jailbreak isn’t released yet and not even the dates announced yet but it looks like the Evad3rs team, who came up with the untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.x, will reveal the iOS 6.1 Jailbreak on this Super Bowl Sunday.

The Evad3rs team also comprises of some of the very known and talented developers like Pimskeks, Pod2g and MuscleNerd that were also previously linked with other iOS Jalibreaks. As the iOS 6.1 release is just around the corner, renowned developer Planetbeing has tweeted that many of iOS users have been waiting to hear for a long time. He tweeted, “iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using.” And to just to add to it, MuscleNerd also tweeted, “Hey did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs” Well MuscleNerd’s tweet just hint towards something and it is believed that it will be nothing but iOS 6.x Jailbreak release.

Well Apple is working very closely on tightening the security and working very hard to close down all the possible doors that result in the developers to sneak in and come up with a Jailbreak. It was even previously heard that we may not ever see a Jailbreak again at all, but thanks to our talented developers who, after working very hard to find the exploits, came up with the untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak. As mentioned the release date isn’t confirmed but it is most likely that the Evad3rs team will take off the curtain from iOS 6.x Jailbreak on Sunday.

Facebook Messenger Adds Voice Calling via WiFi in the US

Facebook today rolled out a Facebook Messenger update for iOS that now allows the Facebook users to call each other via Wi-Fi. The update requires the Facebook Messenger to only open a conversation with another iOS running device and then all you need is to tap the ‘i’ button on the top right corner and then tap ‘Free Call’ and then the recipient will receive the notification that ‘jennifer is calling’ and then he should accept it and you will be good to go. However, those who aren’t still able to make the most of the free call functionality will get a pop up when trying that says, “You don’t have permission to chat with this person.”

Currently only the US iOS Facebook Messenger users can now call each other over Wi-Fi or data packet. However, Facebook already hinted out that the feature will roll out to other users as well when a similar update was rolled out a couple of weeks ago where the company introduced a voice mail service to all of its users but for testing purposes Facebook also gave the Canadian iOS Facebook Messenger users to call each other over Wi-Fi or data connection.

With the expansion in Facebook Messenger services, looks like Facebook is eyeing to become the one of the most used VoIP messenger in the world. Rivals like Skype and Vonage have a lot less small user bases as compared to Facebook and if Facebook is really going to jump in the race then surely it will only be a matter of time when we will see Facebook leading the race. The updated Facebook Messenger app is now available at the Apple app store.

Sony PlayStation 4 to be 50% More Powerful than Microsoft’s Xbox 720, Says Report

2013 is proving to be quite an exciting year for the gaming community all around the world. With E3 all set for June, both the leading manufacturers of gaming consoles Sony and Microsoft are getting ready to launch their next generation gaming consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 respectively. Though we are still waiting to hear the official specifications of the consoles from either of them, which is indeed why causing the rumors to fit in the space until the specifications are not officially announced.

A number of reports and sources are claiming that that next generation Sony PlayStation Console, which would be PlayStation 4, will have an edge on the Microsoft’s Xbox 720. A number of sources reported at CES 2013 last week that indicates that Sony’s PlayStation 4 will provide a much better processing power than its counterpart. It has been reported that PlayStation 4 will be capable of running at 1.84 teraflops while Xbox 720 will only be able to run at 1.23 teraflops. However the difference looks huge but ultimately it is not the only thing that will make the PlayStation 4 more powerful.

Microsoft’s next Gen console will have an edge when it comes to the RAM. Microsoft’s Xbox 720 will have 8GB of RAM on board with 3GB of RAM especially reserved for the operating system and other apps installed on the console while the rest of the 5GB RAM will be available for the powerful games to be played on the console. However both the consoles will have the ability of reading 100GB capacity Blu-ray discs.

Sony’s Vice President has already hinted that company will be making a PlayStation based announcement in the coming months in an interview and also adding that his team is all focused on E3 expo in Los Angeles. While there is nothing yet said from Microsoft but it is highly speculated that Microsoft too will announce their next-Gen console at E3. However, the releases of both the consoles are reported to be near the holiday season towards the end of this year. This means that it is definitely going to be the year where we are going to witness the next generation consoles from both Sony and Microsoft.

Google to Reportedly Announce LG Manufactured Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.7 at I/O

New Year brings new excitement and with the potential hardware and software stuff expected from big guns like Apple, Google, Microsoft and others just boost that excitement. As we entered a new year, countdown to several events also started that take place every year like Apple’s WWDC and Google’s I/O conference. Although both companies have kept quite about the thing they are going to offer in their respective events but early reports suggest that Google might be planning on to announce a new line of Nexus branded devices.

Google unveiled several stuff both on the hardware and the software side at last year’s I/O Conference. That included Chrome browser for iOS, Nexus Q a social streaming player that hasn’t released yet to the public and one of the most successful ASUS branded Nexus 7 tablets. Latest reports indicate that Google is planning to keep that trend going on by unveiling LG co-branded Nexus 5 smartphone and a Nexus 7.7 tablet manufactured also by LG.

This year’s I/O Conference will take place in May and as earlier touted, Google Nexus 5 will probably the highlight of the event. According to reports, Nexus 5 will feature a 5-inch display with a 1920 by 1080 resolution and a massive 440 pixels per inch that will make the display crisp as ever. The device will be powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and 2GB RAM to support.

However Nexus 7.7 will reportedly feature a 7.7-inch display with a 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution, powered by the same processor as that of Nexus 5 and a 2GB of RAM. The tablet will be available in 8GB and 16GB variants initially and will come with Android 5.0. No pricing details available about either of the devices however reports claim that it’s the LG Nexus 5 8GB will be priced at $299, which is same as that of the Nexus 4 8GB model while no reports came out about the pricing of Nexus 7.7.

Apple’s Budget iPhone 5 Concept Visualized [Images]

Apple stays in the news all year not because the company knows how to stay in but because of the rumors. Apple fans wait for the desired gadgets from the company from the start of the New Year till the day it launches, which gives a chance to people spread the rumors and come up with different possible ideas. It is also because of the fact that Apple hardly leaks out anything about their products and therefore the curiosity grows among the tech community.

And this year is no different, as rumors are now that Apple is prepping up for a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone 5 or maybe you can call it iPhone mini. Reports are that Apple is working on to bring a smaller version of the iPhone just like the iPad mini that they revealed last year. However, claims of a smaller and rather a less expensive iPhone are surfacing on the Internet for quite a long time now. With all those claims and rumors, one should be itching to have a look what that phone could look like. Some people say that it would be more like the size of iPhone 4 or 4S and may feature almost the same specs as them, but talking about that why one will buy an iPhone mini when they can buy the original iPhone 4S?

To clear somewhat the doubts about the iPhone mini, a mockup was appeared on a French blog Nowhereelse. fr to give you an idea what iPhone mini may look like. Rumors are that it will feature an all new plastic housing instead of the metal and glass one that was used in iPhone 5. But in the photos, it rather looks like iPhone 5 but in a smaller size. However, the idea is seriously questionable if only minimizing the size of the iPhone will allow the company to reduce the cost price which will eventually affect the selling price. Having said that, these are just the presumed images based on some rumors while it is still unknown what will iPhone mini look like and even if iPhone mini is in the pipeline or not.

Graph Search, Facebook’s New Search Tool Unveiled Today

Facebook today announced a new search tool that they have named as ‘Graph Search.’  Graph search is not the usual search that you use while searching the Web but it is the improved, refined and filtered search option added to Facebook that will allow the users to obtain more specific search results.

Facebook’s co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the tool at a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif. The search tool was in development at Facebook for over a year and finally today they have made it available for some. Graph Search, as Mark Zuckerberg calls it, will be available initially for a limited number of users from today however it will roll out gradually to rest of the users. Zuckerberg added, “It would enable Facebook users to search their social network for people, places, photos and things that interest them.”

The new search tool would allow the users to search the people specifically from a certain category or likes. Like if you are looking to invite some people from your college to a party then you don’t have to scroll through your whole friends list and point out each one of them but now you can simply filter others by simply using this graph search tool and then you’ll have your desired search result. “Graph search is a completely new way to get information on Facebook,” Mr. Zuckerberg said. Similarly you can search for specific people from work, city, school etc. using the new graphical search. “Graph search is designed to take a precise query and return to you the answer, not links to other places where you get the answer.” Mr. Zuckerberg added.

However, Zuckerberg reassured the Facebook users that their posts and photos are kept private and only those posts will be found on searching that they want to share with the public. So to keep things controlled by users, a popup will appear reminding you about the privacy settings with the message “Please take some time to review that can see your stuff,” when the update will roll out to you. However, it’s not yet known when the feature will be available for the mobile phone users, but it will be surely later on.
